Mission Statement:
“To know Him and make Him known.”
Holy Communion:
In Holy Communion, the Lutheran Church acknowledges the teaching of the Scriptures, that Christ’s true body and blood are present with the bread and wine, and thus we value God’s desire that we participate in this Sacrament often.
Since St. Paul says, “Let a person examine himself and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup,” we believe that prior to communing a person should:
- Confess before God that they are sinners deserving of his punishment
- Accept that in communion God grants remission of all sins to those who believe in Jesus
- Believe that in this Sacrament they truly receive Christ’s Body and Blood for the forgiveness of sins and the assurance of eternal life
Baptized Christians who have been instructed in the Lord’s Supper and share the faith in Christ which we proclaim are welcome at the Lord’s table. Those not receiving the sacrament, including small children, are encouraged to come to the altar, cross their arms over their chest, and receive a special blessing. Gluten-free host is available, as is alcohol-free grape juice. Please let your Eucharist server know if you prefer one of these options.
